Infinity IRC Terms of Service
Upon connecting to InfinityIRC, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these Terms, please disconnect now and do not reconnect. You must also agree to comply with any additional rules noted on the MOTD of the server (The MOTD can be accessed by typing /motd at any time) to which you are connected, and by default it should display this on connect.
For clarification purposes, the following terms have been defined:
1. Oper: Short for “Network Operator” or “IRC Operator”. Such a title governs the operations of the entire network or a specific server accordingly.
2. Dynamic IP: IPs that change for a user. Most home internet service providers use dynamic IPs.
3. Static IP: IPs that do not change for a user. This type of IP is more beneficial to business owners, as they may run servers as per their business needs.
4. CTCP: Abbreviated form of “Client to client protocol”. This function allows users to send and retrieve information as per the client’s specifications, such as ping time, client version, or user’s time.
5. PM: Abbreviation for Private Message. A one-on-one conversation, users are permitted to PM each other provided they have expressed permission.
6. The Network: Used in this document to reference Infinity IRC network.
I. General User Conduct
a. No faked user@host information unless you are using a network-given Virtual Host (vhost), or you are using a BNC Service. Infinity IRC disallows the use of open/dangerous proxies connecting to this network. It may mistakenly be in one of our blacklists, meaning you are banned from connecting. If you think this is the case please appeal for it by our forums or the link in the ban message.
b. Don’t abuse Infinity IRC resources, i.e do not flood, have more than 3 clones, mass-message or mass-invite. If a user is found doing this, it could lead to a 7 day ban.
c. You may not use any text or action that harasses another user, which includes (but is not limited to) text or actions that are intended to annoy, offend, or intimidate.
d. Do not PM/Query/Notice/DCC/CTCP anyone without their permission in the channel first, unless they are an Oper and you require assistance.
e. If you are over the age of 18, do not attempt to PM someone who is under the age of 18 unless you know them in person, or they are an Oper of the network. This is a criminal offence and could lead to instant Blacklisting of your IP, as well as a G:line from the network.
II. General Rules/Disclaimers
a. Infinity IRC is not responsible for it’s users behaviour; however, if a user breeches the Terms of Service, a ban could be implemented on to their user, IP, ISP, State/Province or even Country.
b. Every server’s admin team is able to deny access to or use of its server’s resources to any user(s), group(s), site(s), or domain, without the benefit of prior warning or notification if they choose to
c. If you are a known Sex Offender, please stay away from the network. You are not welcome. If you know someone who is a registered sex offender, please report them in #help.
d. Advertising to Infinity IRC users is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to:
1. Spamming other network’s names/server addresses.
2. Spamming your own channel on the network/other networks
3. Spamming your website (Unless it is your own channel, where you have right to do so).
e. Usage of network services to abuse other members on the network is strictly prohibited. If you feel that you are being abused by a member of the network, please join #support and ask to talk to an Oper, and if nobody responds type “^911″ into a registered channel with a BotServ bot in it.
III. Channel Conduct
a. Do not ban Infinity-IRC staff or servers from any channel, this could lead to the channel and the channel owner being suspended.
b. Do not discuss illegal activity, attempt to send illegal files or illegal site links such as links to illegal music, child porn, etc. This could lead to instant blacklisting and a permanent ban from our network. You may also be reported to other agencies such as the police, or your ISP.
IV. Bot Policy
a. Bots are required to be registered on the forums by their respective owners. This will provide network staff with a list of authorized bots as a reference in case issues arise. Bot owners will be required to do this within 24 hours of their bot joining the network. Failure to do so will result in network disciplinary action.
b. All bots are required to have a vHost to protect the channel owner and bot respectively. Format example: Hooch@OwnerNick.Type.bot
c. Bots are required to join the channel #bots.
d. Bots may not join a channel without the channel owner’s expressed permission. If you have a request channel set up, please be sure to log such requests for your records.
e. Relay bots, i.e channel to channel or network network, are not permitted on this network.
f. Clone bots, trojan bots, spam bots, etc are not permitted on this network.
V. vHost Policy
a. A vHost is a virtual host, which replaces your real host with the host you choose. Therefore, it is possible to evade channel bans with a vhost. Doing so will result in the vhost being removed and could lead to a network ban.
b. Your nick must be registered 1 month before you may request a vHost. If your nick isn’t, then the VHost will not be given.
c. If the vHost is a domain, you must own the domain. You will be asked to upload a txt file with a random number and letter string so we can prove you have access to the domain.
d. Your vHost must be suitable. Anything that will disturb or upset minors or the general user-base will be removed as soon as possible.
e. You must wait 1 month in between requesting your vHost to be changed.
VI. Server Linking Policy
a. Server Linking doesn’t entitle you to an immediate O-line. Receiving an o-line will be based on merit and a collaborative decision at the current staff’s discretion.
b. The server must have at least 1 static-type IP address. The network will not link any servers with dynamic IPs.
c. Windows servers will not be accepted because of the security risk they pose.
d. Configs must be kept secret, for obvious reasons. If it is found that your config is not secret your server will be delinked.
Failure to obey these terms or other directions by network staff will result in network disciplinary action up to and/or including a network ban (G:line).
This Terms of Service document may be changed at any time, by a member of staff at Infinity IRC without giving any notice to its userbase. We will cooperate with any/every law enforcement agency provided they have a court-issued subpoena. We reserve the right to contact any user’s ISP for repeated ban evasions and/or general abuse.

I like the new updated TOS, nice.
